Dear Friends, Yogis and Yoginis,
Thank you again for all of your support over the past several weeks.
Today, I am sitting up in a real chair, typing
you this e-mail myself! I know Tom and the amrita staff have updated
you (and thank you, again, to Tom, for
organizing all of this support!), but here's a few new hurdles to
celebrate... I've been able to start my pranayama and meditation
practices again
- I can now lower myself down into my hot tub (and get back up!)
on my own...
- The Physical Therapists have called me a "Rock Star"
I'm beyond their expectations for flexibility (duh) and body awareness
(double duh)...=)
- I am able to take showers on my own (whoopee!) I'm still not
able to bear any weight on my leg because it disrupts the healing
process. So no gardening or walking Piquito on my own or driving
(can't slam the brakes on). Cooking is an art form on crutches
but I've managed to do some! I'm enjoying my garden from the back
deck.
What I have not yet accomplished:
- I have not learned a second language
- I have not won any Scrabble Tournaments
- I didn't solve the 6 star Sudoku last week
- I have not re-organized my closets
- I am not yet pressing into a handstand
- I have not finished knitting last year's project - a new
sweater
But, hey, I'm perfecting the art of contentment through lying
on my back with my leg in my CPM (continuous passive motion) machine
and enjoying the mind daze that comes from stillness. In my stir
crazy moments, which did occur during last week's rainy days,
I've been writing short essays on the Yamas and Niyamas.
I'm looking forward to being back at the studio, but savoring
the continued, enforced downtime. Many thanks to all of you.
Much love,
Sarahjoy
